Frequently Asked Questions

If you cant find an answer below, please get in touch.

How does the agency work?

We receive applications from parents everyday looking to put their children into modelling. Over the past 18 years, we have developed business relationships with hundreds of clients who have hired babies and children for their brands. Our main role as an agency is to work with our clients and models, providing shortlists of models that meet the clients briefs. Once a selection has been made, we negotiate all fees with the clients and contact you with the full assignment details.

Do you accept everyone who applies?

We receive hundreds of applications every single week. However, we only accept a small percentage of these applications based upon their application images, geographical location and age category. We only accept babies and children who we believe have the highest possible chance of securing work.

Does it matter where I live?

No. You can live anywhere in the UK as we have clients in England, Wales and Scotland.

Will we need to travel?

Location and travel are both essential parts of being a model. Models set their travel distance on their profile and we find jobs for them within this radius. The bigger the radius the more opportunities.

Are travel costs covered?

Most clients will pay for your travel, but not all, as this can depend on the client and their budget. If you are required to travel over 60 miles we will negotiate travel costs for you, which can include train or tube tickets, taxi fares or fuel and parking charges. Please note that we do not charge commission for these associated costs.

How can I tell if I am joining a reputable agency?

You can ask us to provide a list of clients or evidence of recent assignments. We are happy to discuss your interest and answer any questions that are important to you.

Will we need professional photographs?

There is no obligation to purchase images or to use professional images if you choose not to do so. Although professional images do increase your chances of securing an assignment, they are not a guarantee of work and we have children on our books who use nonprofessional images taken by their parents at home and who still secure paid assignments.

How does the agency earn?

The primary source of income for any successful modelling agency is commission. When a model is booked for a job, the agency will take a percentage from the models earnings as commission. We charge a flat rate of 25% commission from all successfully completed assignments. The agency will also charge clients for finding and securing models for specific projects. These fees are negotiated between the agency and the client and are separate from the models earnings.

Once my child is registered, are they guaranteed work?

Work is not a guarantee. No authentic agency would ever claim that work is guaranteed because it totally depends on the client’s selection and requirements and based on the profile of each model. What we do guarantee is that we only take babies and children onto our books who we feel can be placed successfully.

What happens if my child is accepted as a model?

If accepted, you can login to our website and upload photographs of your child to their online profile. You can immediately book a test shoot at one of our studio's in London, Birmingham, Manchester, Bristol, Glasgow, Yorkshire or Belfast. The shoot is entirely optional and takes around an hour from start to finish. Its purpose is to help develop your child's confidence working with the photographer. Once your profile is complete, it is automatically put forward for castings and assignments that are matched to briefs sent to us by our clients.

How can I help my child get work?

In order to maintain your child's chances of getting a work assignment it is really important that you reply to all emails that are sent regarding assignments. It is also important to ensure you update the portfolio with some new images every 2-3 months, or when you feel your child has altered in appearance.

How will I know when a client is interested in my child?

The agency will contact you by telephone and e-mail to provide you with the details of your booking. Please note that the agency will contact you only when we have a definite booking for you. The agency is simply too busy to contact models if a client has only expressed an interest in the model or if the agency is in the negotiation stage of the booking.

Can you tell me how many jobs I can expect to receive?

This is an impossible question to answer as each model's work rate is reliant upon many different factors. Some models "hit it off" quicker than others and seem to secure every job for which they are auditioned. Others take a little longer to warm up and yet once they do there is sometimes no stopping them. A great deal depends on the look and age group the client requires for the job. But always remember some of our biggest "stars" are just normal children having fun and enjoying themselves.

How much can I earn?

Jobs can pay anything between £200-£300 for a 4 hour photoshoot to over a thousand pounds for a high profile advertising campaign. The budget for each job will be e-mailed to you along with the booking confirmation.

Who will take the photographs for my portfolio?

Most models start their careers with images taken by their parents. However, if you are not great at taking photographs or would like your child to have the best images possible, you can book a portfolio shoot at one of our studio locations. Alternatively, you can source your own photographer. There is no obligation to provide professional photographs, but if you choose not to do so then you should be uploading high-quality pictures to the profile.

Can anyone access my portfolio?

Not at all. Only you can access the portfolio with the username and password from your application. Clients have a different login, where they can view and select model for work.

What age groups do you represent?

We represent babies and children up to the age of 4 years of age. If you Child is aged 4+, please apply on our child models website www.childmodels.co.uk.

When do auditions and jobs take place?

The majority of work takes place between Monday to Friday. It is important that you keep us up to date with your unavailability throughout the year. Occasionally clients will hold auditions or shoots at the weekend so bear that in mind when giving us your unavailability. Castings and photo shoots can sometimes be very short notice, so you will need to be as flexible as possible. The average notice period is around 1-2 weeks, varying from client to client.

Why should I choose this agency?

We offer a professional, committed service and have over 18 years experience in baby and child modelling. We have worked with thousands of clients and photographers over the years and have gained recognition as one of the industries leaders in finding baby and child models.

Is there a joining fee?

We do not charge representation fees or joining fees, but we do require a one off fee of £90 for costs associated with becoming a model. These include print and publication costs for model cards, integration into our model directory, work licences and a test shoot experience at one of our 7 studio locations in the UK.

Can we work for other modelling agencies?

Yes, of course. The whole point of modelling is to work whenever you can. There are many models, successful included, that have more than one agent in place. Be seen as much as possible in the hope more people will notice your child.

Will my child need a test shoot?

Test shoots are not manditory, but they are available to all registered models. The primary purpose of a test shoot is to assess your child’s modelling ability and provide them with their 1st modelling experience. Many parents see the test shoot as a great opportunity to purchase professional images taken on the day, but there is no obligation to do so. Test shoots are available every month in London, Birmingham, Manchester, Bristol, Hull, Glasgow and Belfast.
